National Responsible Gambling Webinar

You are invited to the National Responsible Gambling Month Webinar which takes place on 21 November 2020. This Webinar is hosted by the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (“The Foundation”) a not-for-profit company. The Foundation’s founding objective is to minimise the potential harmful effects of problem gambling through its flagship programme the National Responsible Gambling Programme (NRGP).

The webinar is themed Minimising the Potential Harmful Effects of Problem Gambling: The relationship between problem gambling and gender-based violence.

We have lined up speakers to speak on the following areas:

Theme 1: What is the relationship between problem gambling and family violence,
Theme 2: Reporting on gender-based-violence: a social media perspective,
Theme 3: Reporting gender-based-violence: How does the legal system handle GBV complaints and
Theme 4: What is the extent to which South African ambling legislation protect families from problem gambling?


Advocate Fana J Nalane : He gave a legal perspective and how the South African Gambling Legislation Protects families from problem gambling.
Dr Tshepiso Mhlane discussed the relationship between Problem Gambling and Family Violence.


Mr Lebogang Joseph Seoheng (LJS Communication Founder) Addressed the role of social media on gender based violence. .


Noxolo Adonis (Social Worker ) addressed the impact of problem gambling on family psyche .
Mr Luvuyo Tshoko from Eastern Cape Gambling Board : He shared an insight on the extent of South African Gambling Legislation which protects families from problem and excessive gambling (Gambling Regulator Perspective ) .
Alpheus Matlala (SARGF Treatment Counsellor) he discussed the impact of problem gambling, he also tackled both males and females perspective on their reasons for gambling and the effects such as children negligence and Gender Based Violence .
