The South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF) is South Africa’s leading public health-focused non-profit organisation dedicated to preventing and reducing gambling-related harm, addressing it through its flagship National Responsible Gambling Programme (NRGP) as a public health issue affecting individuals, families, and communities.
Established under the National Gambling Regulations of 2004 and operating independently of the gambling industry, the Foundation advocates for player protection and safer gambling environments. It provides free counselling and treatment for those affected by gambling addiction, conducts research and nationwide screening, and delivers responsible gambling training and workplace wellness programmes across the industry.
The National Responsible Gambling Programme (NRGP) is the flagship initiative of the SARGF, whose operational mandate and authority is anchored in the National Gambling Regulations of 2004, which legally integrate the NRGP into the advertising, player protection guidelines. delivering an agile, public health response to gambling-related harm across South Africa.
